University of Wyoming
The University of Wyoming (UW) in Laramie is the state's only four-year public university, enrolling approximately 12,000 students. International students from across the Middle East and Central Asia study at UW, with the International Students and Scholars Office providing support services. Turning introductions into real support, collaboration, and opportunity.
University of Wyoming — Laramie
UW offers strong programs in engineering, energy resources, agriculture, law, and the sciences — fields aligned with development priorities in Kurdish regions. The College of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Energy Resources are particularly well regarded.
There is no formal Kurdish student organization at UW as of 2025, but Kurdish and Middle Eastern students participate in the International Students Association. The close-knit international student community in Laramie makes it easier to form connections across cultural groups.
Wyoming's cost of living is among the lowest in the US, and UW's in-state tuition rates for international students who qualify under WY scholarship programs make it an affordable option compared to coastal universities.
